Road Rules for Pedestrians - Are they exist? 🤔

 Hi Readers,

It is quite weird that my blog is about Road Rules, because many of us in India, didn't even know that they exists.

Yes! this is the fact.

Now You might think that we get driving license after clearing test, than how could I say that we don't know about this.

And my answer is - My Topic is Road Rules and not Driving RulesAnd both have hair line difference, which is important for us! Ok now it is enough about boring explanation from me and directly getting to the point.

The question is - Are they exist? and the answer is - Yes, they exist.

In school everything was taught to us, from grooming to behavior, personality to discipline. But the most important which usually gets ignored here, the knowledge about the roads. As the rules are important for driving, they are equally important to pedestrians i.e. walking people as well.

According to one article in news paper Union Road Ministry of India has confirmed that 1,31,714 pedestrians are died in Road accidents in India in Year 2020.

But still some people will not bother and some will ask are there any written rules for pedestrians, or I am just forcing to believe that there are rules.

Actually rules are not written or displayed on any government websites or articles. Because Government is very lenient with pedestrians and never force them to follow that.

Below line is present in most of the state RTO official websites in INDIA, but maximum of us will see this first time in life.

"Moreover, traffic rules and regulation are not only for the driver of the vehicles but at the same times these rules are meant for the pedestrians, cyclist, motor-cyclist and other road users. "

But what we assume, only drivers should follow and this is because, we open RTO websites very rarely, for just checking the driving license status. We as a generation need to take it seriously to learn about it and pass it to next generation which will educate next generation and it will give equal contribution to decrease the road accident fatality rate of Nation.

So below are some of the rules which are usually stated as TIPS in lenient way..😊

  •  Use Foot Paths if available
  •  Always walk facing vehicle traffic.
  • Use Zebra crossing, Bridges or Sub Ways to cross the roads
  • Stop and wait for pedestrians green signal to cross the road
  • Always give right side to pedestrian coming from opposite direction, as he or she is unable to see coming traffic.
  • If walking with child, hold them on right side.
  • Avoid using head phones while walking on road
  • Don't read books or news papers while walking on road

I hope it will help some of us to understand the importance of Road Rules for Pedestrians....😊

Will come again with one more light but important topic.....
